AMPPA activities, workshops, and community initiatives
Mediterranean of Peace and Cooperation
The flagship AMPPA event celebrated cross-border cooperation between Italy and Malta in protecting Mediterranean marine ecosystems. The event — “A Mediterranean of Peace and Cooperation” — was organised by the Interreg V-A Italia Malta programme and won the Best Thematic Event award at the Best EC Day 2022, recognised as one of the Best Initiatives of European Cooperation Day.
Sea Bingo – Marine Biodiversity Discovery
An innovative and playful initiative that transforms learning about marine biodiversity into an interactive bingo game, engaging children, families, and local communities. Participants learned to identify Mediterranean sea creatures, fishing traditions, and the importance of Marine Protected Areas in a fun and memorable way.
School Animation and Awareness Programmes
Animation days and workshops organised in schools across the project area, introducing students to marine protected areas, sustainable fishing, and biodiversity conservation. Children engaged in hands-on creative activities including drawing marine life, learning about Mediterranean species, and exploring the role of MPAs in protecting the sea.
Sicilia Sea Food – AMPPA Public Stand
AMPPA showcased the project work at the Sicilia Sea Food fair, one of Sicily's major events dedicated to sustainable fishing and Mediterranean food culture. Our stand featured information about the Marine Protected Areas, artisan fishing practices, and the Interreg Italia-Malta partnership, engaging visitors of all ages with interactive materials and guided demonstrations.
